Eli Young Band San Antonio Concert reviews
Jackson Browne (with David Lindley) FANTASTIC!
David Lindley accompanied Eli Young Band on their acoustic set and himself on two individual songs when he took the stage. It was his piercing, soulful slide guitar on album after album that so enraptured us in the 70s and 80s, and so it was a pleasure and an honor to listen to him play a number of stringed instruments and to perform his own songs.
The band hit the stage as tight as ever. They played some of the stand out tracks from their current album 'Time the Conquerer' for starters, then one of my favorites 'In the shape of a Heart'. The rest of the show came together with many great songs from the archives of a 40 year career. 'Rock me on the Water' was great to hear again. And the band played on...'Runnin on Empty...runnin into the sun...but I'm runnin behind'.
Last year we had the pleasure of seeing EYB at the Gleason Theatre in Miami with their band in St Augustine and then Solo. When we saw they were playing at the Fox Theatre in Detroit we couldn't resist. We had not been back to the Fox since it was restored, and what a beautiful venue and acoustically perfect during our youth attending many Motown Revues.
